Under the direction of our immediate Past-President Lena Napolitano, the 30th Annual Meeting of the Surgical Infection Society was a grand success! On behalf of the members of the society, we thank Dr. Napolitano for her tremendous service to the organization over the past year.
	Dr. Napolitano passes the gavel to Dr. Henri Ford, our 2010-11 SIS president. Attendees to the meeting were treated to a truly inspirational presidential address, entitled “Answering the Call to Action: Response to the January 12, 2010 Haiti Earthquake” in which Dr. Ford detailed his experience leading medical rescue efforts in Haiti in the wake of the disaster. He recognized the other members of SIS who brought their knowledge and skills to work on the ground in the initial disaster response and challenged our organization to lead the development of guidelines to bring early surgical expertise to disasters in the future. We congratulate all of our award winners, and thank all of our presenters for sharing their investigations. This meeting marks a new high mark for attendance and we hope to continue this trend in Palm Beach, Florida in May 2011 for the 31st meeting of the Surgical Infection Society. Please join us then!
