Research is at the core of the mission of the Surgical Infection Society. The Annual meeting is a forum to discuss the most exciting advances in research in the area of surgical infection, including basic science and clinical studies. In addition, Surgical Infections, the official journal of the SIS, is dedicated to publishing the most important new knowledge related to infection research. See the links below for more information.

Prevention and Education Program

Although the treatment of infection maintains a very high priority, prevention of surgical infections is equally important. To this end, the Surgical Infection Society believes that it is through effective EDUCATION that decreasing the rate of surgical infections is most likely to occur. The SIS is dedicated to educating all members of the clinical healthcare team as well as providing educational opportunities to future researchers and practitioners through the SIS research fellowship programs.
